GuruKool is used by school students, most of them under eighteen. That shapes everything below: we ask for as little as we can, we do not sell anything to anyone, and a parent or guardian has to agree before a student keeps using it.

A student account holds a name, a username, a password we cannot read, and — if they filled them in — an age, a class, a board, a school and a language. Class and board are not paperwork: they decide which syllabus a lesson follows.

For each lesson we keep the title, the subject and the date. We do not keep the lesson itself, and we do not keep what a student said to their teacher or what the teacher said back. Those are held in the student’s own browser, on their own device.

A parent account holds a name and, if given, an email and a phone number, plus the date they agreed and the address their computer was using at the time — that last one only so the agreement can be shown to have happened.

A student may add a PDF of their own study material. It is read on their device and stays there. It is not stored on our servers, and it is never shared with, or reused for, another student.

Chapters studied, marks, and dates. Not the conversation. This is deliberate: a student who knows every question is being read stops asking the honest ones, and the honest question is what a tutor is for.

One student cannot see another student’s work, and a parent can only see the child whose code they used. We do not build profiles across students and we do not sell or rent anyone’s information.

Lessons are written and spoken by Amazon Web Services in Mumbai, working for us under contract. Web searches run on a search engine we host ourselves, so no search company receives a student’s question. There is no advertising and there are no trackers.

If this page changes in a way that matters, we will say so on it rather than quietly swapping the words.
